Macarons are my main reason to travel to Paris. I have the intention to try different macaron-makers every time I am in the lovely capital of France, in order to find the best macaron in the world. The winner uptil now is the Mogador by Pierre Hermé.
I must confess: I am a miss Sweet Tooth. Macarons is something I can really crave for. The first one I ever tasted was the Mogador by Pierre Hermé. This explosion of taste (passion fruit combined with milk chocolate) has never been equalled ever after. I even didn’t try another one for the next hour, to be able to enjoy the aftertaste to the fullest.
I just love Pierre Hermé’s macarons. Whether they are the best, I can’t say. For me they are. Because I love his unusual (combinations of) ingredients: roses, olive oil, liquorice, … Every macaron is a journey through the realm of (unexpected) tastes. This may be slightly exaggerated, but his macarons just get me in a lyrical mood.
If you prefer a more subtle taste, you should go for Ladurée. They have a lovely almond after taste. And I really liked the lily of the valley variant!
